Winter Term 10 Week Beginner Sewing Course

Join us in The Sewing Room for a fun 10 week course where students will learn to use a sewing machine, including sewing safety, as well as basic hand sewing stitches. 

Class Time:

Class Length: 90 Minutes

Cost: $250 per student. Payment can be made in full, or a $50 deposit can be made to reserve your spot with the remainder on or before the first class. 

Sewing machines and notions provided. Fabric for projects is provided by The Sewing Room, but students are welcome to bring in their own fabric for any projects. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine if they have one.

Classes Schedule

Week 1: Intro to using a sewing machine

Week 2: Straight stitch and pivot turn practice, Bookmarks

Week 3: Straight stitch practice, Book Pocket Pillowcase

Week 4: Sewing Curves and Ladder hand stitch, Heart Pillow with Pocket

Week 5: Hand Sewing Techniques, Key Chains

Week 6: Sewing Curves and using a zigzag finishing stitch, Apron

Week 7: Design & create your own stuffie (machine & hand sewing)

Week 8: Zippers!, Zippered pencil or makeup bag

Week 9: Intro to knit (stretchy) fabric, Beanies or Headbands

Week 10: Finish incomplete or missed projects
